12 Stars Of That ’70s Show: Where Are They Now?

There aren’t really that many period sitcoms out there. When it comes to entertainment set in a different time, audiences tend to favour dramas like Downton Abbey or Rome. Or, even dramas set in different worlds, like the insanely popular Game of Thrones. When it comes to sitcoms, the majority of the most popular ones are set in modern times – Friends, How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, the list goes on and on. However, there is one sitcom in particular that gained a ton of fans and managed to last for nearly a decade, from 1998 to 2006 – we’re talking about That ‘70s Show.

No one really knows why that show in particular gained so many fans. Sure, it was cleverly written, and the ‘70s background was charming, but its following was absolutely massive. All of its stars were cast as relative unknowns – in Mila Kunis’ case, it was basically her first real job that wasn’t a commercial. However, they all had something special, and basically every single one of the main ‘kids’ has gone on to have a hugely successful acting career since then.

We all just loved hanging out in Eric Forman’s wood-panelled basement, listening to the goofy group of kids discuss all their troubles while clad in crazy retro fashions. So, where are all those ‘70s faces now? Let’s find out.

12Laura Prepon (Donna Pinciotti)

Laura Prepon got her start as an international model, working on campaigns across the world, and from the mid ‘90s to the mid ‘00s, she primarily worked on That‘70s Show. Sure, between seasons, she starred in the occasional movie, but the majority of the world knew her from television. After the show wrapped, she had a few guest starring roles here and there until she snagged a role in a small Netflix series – you may have heard of it. Prepon had the prime role of bad girl Alex Vause in Orange Is The New Black, a show that absolutely captivated audiences around the world. She has proven that, while she can hold her own on the big screen, television is where she truly shines.

11Topher Grace (Eric Forman)

Let’s face it – when it comes to leading men, Topher Grace isn’t necessarily the most obvious choice. That’s part of the reason everyone loved him as Eric Forman. Actors like Ashton Kutcher were more buff and classically handsome, but Grace just had a charming awkwardness that audiences were drawn to. Well, besides That ‘70s Show, Grace’s most famous role has been as a crazy supervillain. No, we’re not joking – while Tobey Maguire snagged the title role in the Spider Man film franchise, Grace played the character of Eddie Brock/Venom. He’s continued scoring gigs here and there, and recently (well, in 2014) got engaged to actress Ashley Hinshaw.

10Mila Kunis (Jackie Burkhart)

Okay, if you don’t know what Mila Kunis is up to now, you’ve probably been living under a rock. Kunis snagged the role of the high maintenance yet lovable Jackie Burkhart on That ‘70s Show when she was just 15 (by telling a little white lie to the producers), and she’s gone on to become one of the most A-List stars amongst the cast. She voiced Meg Griffin on the animated television show Family Guy, and has starred in films including Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Friends With Benefits, Black Swan, Ted, and many more. The gorgeous brunette is a red carpet favourite, and – in case you missed it – ended up getting married to Ashton Kutcher. That’s right – Jackie and Kelso, together forever. She recently gave birth to the couple’s first child, a baby girl named Wyatt, and will next be starring in Bad Moms.

9Danny Masterson (Steven Hyde)

Danny Masterson really got his start on That ‘70s Show, and only recently popped back on everyone’s radar when he co-starred with his former co-star Ashton Kutcher on the new Netflix original series The Ranch. We loved him as the goofy Hyde, and we love him just as much as the goofy older brother, Jameson Bennett. Apart from acting, Masterson has engaged in several pursuits over the years – namely, dj’ing. Masterson started spinning in about 1999, right when the show was getting started, and has since crafted a successful side career for himself as a mixing and mastering engineer. He’s even played sets at famous music festival Lollapalooza! He’s married to Bijou Phillips, and also enjoys the odd game of poker.

8Wilmer Valderrama (Fez)

Okay, let’s be honest for a second – since That ‘70s Show, Valderrama has mostly been known for which hot celebrity he’s dating. He’s been with superstar singer Demi Lovato for over 5 years now, and is the frequent recipient of shout-outs from his bae. Since That ‘70s Show wrapped, he hasn’t really scored as well known a role. One of his longest roles was in From Dusk till Dawn: The Series, but Valderrama has primarily been appearing in two or three episode arcs on a variety of television shows. I mean, it’s pretty tough to follow up a role as over the top as Fez, the crazy foreign exchange student.

7Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty Forman)

Who can forget Debra Jo Rupp, with her iconic voice? Since playing the lovable matriarch of the Forman family on That ‘70s Show, Rupp has continued to work periodically in Hollywood, albeit on lesser known roles. She had an arc as Phoebe’s brother’s older wife on Friends, voiced Mrs. Helperman in the animated series Teacher’s Pet, and small roles in films including She Wants Me and She’s Out of My League. Rupp splits her time between Los Angeles and Massachusetts, and unlike her character Kitty Forman, she’s not tied to a man – Rupp remains single and fabulous.

6Kurtwood Smith (Red Forman)

Kurtwood Smith is best known for his role as the gruff yet hilarious patriarch of the Forman family, “Red,” and he has perhaps the most diverse filmography of any of the cast. He’s starred in everything from science fiction films to biographical dramas. He’s played an FBI agent on Agent Carter, a senator on 24, voiced a CEO in the animated children’s film Turbo, and much more. Smith had a ton of credits before taking on the role of Red on That ‘70s Show, and has continued to work very steadily ever since then. Despite reaching 70 years old, he shows absolutely no signs of slowing down.

5Ashton Kutcher (Michael Kelso)

Ashton Kutcher has become one of the most well-known members of the cast, and for good reason – the actor who got his start as a model is obviously handsome, but he’s also smart and into investing and experimenting. First of all, right around the time That ‘70s Show wrapped, he began dating older actress Demi Moore; he’s since moved on with fellow co-star Mila Kunis, with whom he has an adorable baby. He’s appeared in comedy films like Dude Where’s My Car?, psychological thrillers like The Butterfly Effect, tackled iconic personalities like Steve Jobs in the film Jobs, and took over for Charlie Sheen on the television show Two and a Half Men. Oh, and he recently starred with former co-star Danny Masterson on the Netflix show The Ranch. As if that wasn’t enough, he’s also known as a venture capitalist and has invested in start-ups including Skype, Airbnb, and Foursquare.

4Josh Meyers (Randy Pearson)

Okay, now we’re getting into the supporting cast territory. Josh Meyers played Randy Pearson, the employee that Hyde had at the record store who appeared in season 8 of the show. Fun fact – he’s Seth Meyers’ brother! Comedy runs in the family, apparently, as Meyers is best known for being a cast member on Mad TV, and has had a few roles here and there. And yes, you’re right – he’s the one who played the prostitute on The Mindy Project, so that might be where you know him from.

3Tanya Roberts (Midge Pinciotti)

The majority of Tanya Roberts’ big roles happened before she starred alongside the younger cast on That ‘70s Show – she played Julie Rogers on the television series Charlie’s Angels. Since she left her role as Donna’s hot mom, Roberts snagged only two one-episode roles on television shows, and has kept a fairly low profile. She lives in the Hollywood Hills, leading a quiet life.

2Tommy Chong (Leo Chingkwake)

Okay, everyone knows who Tommy Chong is – he’s one half of the marijuana-loving comedy duo Cheech and Chong. While the earlier portion of his career focused on comedy rather than acting roles, when his partner Cheech Marin ended up wanting to try his hand at regular acting, Chong eventually followed suit. He snagged the role of Leo on That ‘70s Show, a character who was a laid-back older hippie who became a regular character because audiences were so charmed by him.

1Lisa Robin Kelly (Laurie Forman)

This one is really sad. Everyone remembers Lisa Robin Kelly as Laurie Forman, Eric Forman’s lovable and promiscuous older sister. After the show wrapped (that is, once she left, at least – she didn’t stick around for the entire series), Kelly essentially left Hollywood and fought several demons like alcohol problems. She unfortunately passed away in 2013, while she was at a California rehab centre.
